The District Bar at SkyCity

The District Bar at SkyCity

Australia's First Microbrewery Within A Casino

HI Lighting played a key role in the recent upgrades at the Sky City Casino’s District Bar, located on Level 1. This newly transformed space now houses Adelaide’s first “brew-pub,” featuring a fully operational ‘Pirate Life Brewing’ microbrewery. The multi-level bar was designed to highlight the venue’s existing heritage features while incorporating modern elements throughout. The lighting in this space truly elevates the overall ambiance, with numerous carefully considered details that catch the eye and enhance the environment.

The District’s design embraces a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere, appealing to anyone seeking a memorable night out—whether it’s a casual drink after work or a celebration with friends and family. Upon entry, guests are greeted by an eye-catching graffiti wall in a bold shade of blue. The space follows an industrial-inspired design, with an open layout and a colour palette dominated by deep timber and black tones.

To complement the industrial designed space and ensure precise luminaire placement, track lighting is used throughout the venue. A mix of Unios’ Kobe and Axis Track lights, along with the Particle Downlight, are strategically arranged to provide subtle, focused illumination on dining surfaces. The Pilot Handrail lighting adds to the atmosphere, offering functional illumination while complementing the modern design.

For a more intimate experience, guests can venture up to the mezzanine level, which also features an outdoor area. The elevated space provides guests with a panoramic view of the lively bar below while offering a private, serene environment to enjoy a meal or drink. The integration of modern lighting with the historical features of the venue and the functional elements of the brew-pub creates a unique and inviting space at The District Bar.
